ACSI 2013 (Aalto Camp for Societal Innovation) started yesterday in Malmö and runs until Aug 29. You can read a lot of interesting information regarding the conference at the web site of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden. The topic this year is Sustainable Urban Development. I am really looking forward to see the results from the so called ACSI Challenges that the conference participants are working upon through-out the conference. One example of these ACSI Challenges are not to far from what I have been discussing with Hanna Sigsjö and her colleagues at Forum for Social Innovation at Malmö University previously (see for instance my blog posts from March 11 2013, May 16 2012, April 16 2012, and Nov 1 2011):
- Towards New Power Relations & Co-production: Users as experts in The Sustainable City
Challenge Holder: SKL (The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Region
"Citizens as users of the public welfare state often become passive consumers. To create a sustainable welfare society, we need to start renewing local communities and build local sustainable welfare models where citizens are active co-creators and co-producers of welfare services. There are many obstacles to overcome, and we seek new ideas and inspiration about user-driven innovation, self-organizing citizen and user-networks, and new models for communication, co-creation, and collective decision-making."
Interesting challenge! Looking forward to seeing the discussions and the results!
